SHOWS > WALLDANCE

The Walldance show, a series of choreographic experiences, in quest of new and multidisciplinary forms, a dialogue with the environment: inside, outside, city, country, from small to large format, always in verticality. Walldance is open to all propositions in situ.

Created to be presented in different successive parts "Walldance-The Pathways of the Wall" was created in 2009 and performed during the Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights) at Chartres with "Part I." Then came: in 2010, "Part 2" for Nuit Blanche (White Night) at Nanterre; in 2011 "Part 3" at the Science and Industry Museum at the Cité de la Villette in Paris; and "Part 4" in Résidence Art'R in Paris in the 13th district at the "ENSAPVS" National School of Architecture; "Part 4/5th" in Paris in the 13th district at National School of Architecture (ENSAPVS). "Part 6" is in the works for 2013 in Paris…
And most recently the latest creation Walldance #5 in partnership with Art'R, was presented October 2013 along the banks of the Seine in the 7th district of Paris.

Choreographic research

This project is based on a choreographic work whose goal is the pursuit of new forms specific to dance on the wall and vertically. It enables a radical approach of movement derived from the constraint imposed by the harness and the rope. Many of the movements and sequences originate directly in the environment in which the creation takes place. We therefore have to re-qualify every movement, analyze it for a choreographic development to take place.

Scenography

Glossy black wall, square of six meters high by six meters wide.

The show

The show "Walldance Part 1/2/3" is a series of three danced pieces, thus 3 different worlds of gesture, music and technique.
The first part develops in a Worldmusic environment. The subject is divided into 3 parts: the humoristic discovery of the verticality and the mastering of it ; and equilibrium and ritual.
The second part develops to techno music. The subject: speed, cadence, repetition of the choreographic theme and dexterity.
The 3rd part develops to classical music. The subject: choreographic interval of movement and of the environment.

In contrast to the preceding parts, "Part4/5th"originates inside, in a scenography which places the public in the center of the space, the walls becoming screens and a vast stage for three dancers and two video makers. The video work was done by the 8GG (Fu Yu et Jia Haiqing) duo from Beijing.

Length: 50 minutes

With "Walldance #5", the choreographic forms specific to dance on walls is carried on. Along the banks of the Seine in Paris, the body language of the dancers responds to the contemporary multimedia work of Street Art, to calligraphy and to the writing of poems. Together dancers, multimedia artists, calligraphic poets create an "emotional suite" made of colors and feelings. An ephemeral opening up of urban space.
